Queridos estudiantes, padres y tutores,
My name is María Traxler and I am your student's Spanish teacher. This is my fourth year as an educator at Inman Middle School, although I have many years of experience teaching students from middle school to college.
I hold two Masters degrees, one in Sociology and the other in Secondary Education in Foreign Languages, both from my dear Auburn University, War Eagle!
I was born and raised in the Dominican Republic, one of the three Spanish speaking countries in the Caribbean. In addition to being a native speaker, I have traveled extensively throughout the Spanish speaking world to countries, such as Argentina, Chile, México, Nicaragua, Perú, Puerto Rico, and Spain.
I welcome your child to our language program. I am committed to develop in your student the language skills necessary for him or her to communicate in Spanish with certain level of proficiency. In order to achieve our goals, our program provides an immersion environment in which students converse, listen, write, read, play games, and act out stories, all in Spanish.
I believe we are all capable of learning more than one language through personal effort and the appropriate learning environment. The acquisition of a second language is a long, but rewarding journey. I will be your child’s facilitator throughout this process.
Gracias.
